Meltdown Sale
 
Head to Downtown Holland from January 11 – 17 for the biggest sale of the (new) year! As part of the all-new Meltdown Sale, participating merchants will be offering deep discounts on hundreds of items as they clear their shelves to make room for new merchandise! Restaurants will be joining the fun all week long with winter-themed drinks and menu specials too. Outdoor Winter Market
 
The Holland Farmers Market’s Winter Market returns Saturday, January 2 from 9am – 1pm! This year’s Winter Market will be held outdoors at the Eighth Street Market Place on the first and third Saturdays of the month from January through April. Customers are invited to bundle up and shop for winter produce, baked goods, meat, cheese, honey, maple syrup and so much more!  Bridge Cards and Double Up Food Bucks will be accepted at the Winter Market. Masks are required.

Coffee with Council - New Format
 
Coffee with Council has moved to an email format for 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, the original open forum will move to email. In lieu of meeting in person with City Council, residents are asked to submit an email to coffeewithcouncil@cityofholland.com. All residents submitting an email are asked to include their name and City of Holland address in the email. The deadline to submit an email is January 9, 2021.

Excess Holiday 
Trash Pick-Up
 
Excess holiday trash pick-up is available December 26 - January 8, 2021. Place extra trash bags next to your curbside trash container on your scheduled trash pick up day. Styrofoam and packing peanuts should be bagged and placed in the trash container. Cardboard should be flattened and placed in the yellow recycle bags.

Curbside Christmas Tree
Pick-Up 
 
Curbside Christmas tree pick-up for City residents is December 26 - January 8, 2021. Residents may also drop off Christmas trees at Bouws Pool until January 22, 2021.

Snowshoe Rentals at DeGraaf Nature Center
 
Visit the nature center Tuesday through Saturday between 11am and 2:30 pm to rent snowshoes to walk the trails. There must be 4 inches of snow on the ground to use the center's snowshoes. Children with boots under youth size 8 will be offered a more modern and smaller style of snowshoe for hiking. Snowshoes must be returned to the nature center by 3:00 pm when the building closes for the day. Fee: $5 per pair ages 14 & up. Children under 14, free with a paying adult.

DeGraaf Nature Center
 
Knee High Naturalists
 
Knee-high Naturalist classes introduce the wonders of the natural world to young children. Crafts, activities, books, snacks, live animals, and outside exploration will be incorporated into their nature-based learning experience. Parents are encouraged to attend with their 4 to 6 year old - though not required. Parents or guardians are asked to attend with their 3-year-old to help with bathroom use and transitioning into a group learning environment. Be prepared for the weather, the entire program will take place outside! January 8 & 22, 10am - 12pm, $10/child, $5 for members. Registration is required.

The City will be transitioning its recycling program. This tranistion will take place in the spring of 2021. Stay tuned for more information. The International Relations Commission hosts the final selection of the 2020-21 Reel Time Film Series: Pad Yatra: A Green Odyssey. Viewers join the adventure of 700 people trekking across the Himalayas with a call to save the planet’s “3rd Pole,” a glacial region now devastated by the climate chaos associated with global warming. Shot with solar power PAD YATRA: A Green Odyssey gives unprecedented access into religious communities rarely seen on film. FREE virtual screening January 1- 14.  A live Q&A with film director and writer Wendy J.N. Lee, January 11, from 7-8 pm.
